Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps, developed by Dr. David Hyerle, are visual teaching tools that foster and encourage lifelong learning.

Based on thorough and well-accepted academic study and brain research, the eight Thinking Map tools correspond with eight fundamental thinking processes.

The maps provide a common visual thinking language and are used for the explicit teaching of cognitive skills that can be transferred into all curriculum areas and with all age groups.

We regularly use thinking maps across school to support all areas of the curriculum. Define in context maps are used throughout our topics in science, RE, RSE, history and geography to show what we have learnt.
